Does anyone have a simple standalone demo or example that puts up a jqGrid and fills it with some contrived data?

I've been trying to hack on the example.html provided in the 3.5 beta demo, but the file won't run from my hard drive as it depends on too many things from the trirand server.

(I'm trying to get a simple jqGrid showing from my Django app but I'd like to work out the presentation – so I have something to look at – before I figure out how to load actual data.)
