At first look it seems to be easy to do this, but actually I do not find better solution.

Our solution is to create a virtual column, use formatter to add icon to click and then in gridComplete to do similar things as in subgrid – i.e attach click to this icon  add new row and put content here.

You need to fine tune this for the colspan number of columns (take account for the hidden one) and of course add your own subGridRowExpand in place of the comment
