The documentation mentions the following known issue with gridDnD

• The method does not work well in Safari and Chrome because of the bug in the draggable widget. The effect is that the entry text is selected bellow the draggable row (/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:jquery_ui_methods#known_problems2)

I tested on the most recent demo version of jqGrid
