What breaks? Could not help if so little info. Be a more specific. If switch to formatter of type select the data returned from server should be changed to accept the key, but not the name.
This is wrong. Formatter of type select is a special property for the selects – to use the key instead of name from the server. Refer to docs what is this. I see showAction property – this is used not for type select but for showlink
