Here is the solution which works for me. (Little ugly only in basic theme)

Open the grid.css file and correct the following lines:

table.scroll thead tr th {

…

height:18px;

}

to

table.scroll thead tr th {

…

height:auto;

}

table.scroll th div {

…

height:18px;

}

to

table.scroll th div {

…

height:auto;

}

and finally

table.scroll th span {

…

height:18px;

}

to

table.scroll th span {

…

height:auto;

}

Do not forget to set the brake tag in colNames

The solution you suggested here above (editing grid.css) worked very well for me. But after upgrading to jqGrid 3.5.2 (and themeroller), I have the same problem again.

Is it still possible to increase the height of the column name row as before, so one can have a line break in the header???
