Using 3.7.2, when the search dialog comes up, initially the dialog is modal (you cannot interact with the grid).
But if you click on Find or Reset, the grid becomes enabled and you can interact with it.

This is possible and it depends what you do when you click find/reset button.
I can not remember into the moment, but there was a option for this.
