When you use short tag form:

pager will not be shown in Opera 11.52 and it results in empty page (even no grid) in my IE 9

It was very hard to catch it

And while I'm here – please apply this patch

https://github.com/flack/jqGrid/commit/3f59f8669bc819e95fff6ce6893c91a666b9d4bc

it makes it possible to have multiple independent grids. There is only first line applyable now.
