Im new in this grid and I need help because I want eddit a row but firth i need Validate fields ( if the field 1 is int that only acept numeric or if the fiel is date that only acept date). How do I do that?
Currently jqGrid does not support form checking. You can use one of the available plugins to do that. One direction of this is to add the neccessary class to that field with editoptions and then use onInitializeForm event to add the checking. For more information refer to documentation
The checking works but the form is submitted though there are errors in the form filling.

You can try to set the validate plugin with options onsubmit : false. Default is true. Very interested on this feedback.
I’vet set the onsubmit param to false but still no luck. I receive an error code 0 and the form is submitted.
To make the validation message to appear I had to change the button type to submit in the formGrid.
I will keep you posted If I can figure out what’s wrong.

I will try to make a validation addition to this. Any comment and sugestions are welcome. Currently do not change the type of the button from button to submit – it will not work. You can write your own validation using on beforeSubmit event. To this event is passed array of the posted values – so you can perform some type of checking.
I guess that I will validate the entries server side.
there are many issue using the validation plugin.
If the form contains errors and then you decide to close the modal window, if you reopen it the errors are still there.
Unfortunately I’m a newbie in JS stuff and cannot help you more with this.
On a side note, you should post your plugin on the official jsuery site. This is the most powerful i’ve found.
do you think that I could once the button is clicked sumit the form.
that way the plugin will be executed and then if errors are found stop jGrid by setting p.processed to true ?

Chenge to
if( typeof p.beforeSubmit === ‘function’ ) ret = p.beforeSubmit(postdata,frmgr));
Then define beforeSubmit event like this
beforeSubmit: function(aPostData, formid) {
if(!$(“#”+formid).valid() ) return [false,”Message to display”];
else return [true];
}
I think that this is more flexible solution and I will add this in the next release again with the my validation rules.
