the demo files. Maybe something is wrong with the data.

You can do it server side – i.e. return the img tag by example in the data.
In your case you should set
{total: “17″,page: “1″,records: “68″,
…
}
The problem is that you should return exactly 3 record from the
server and not 5
I see all is correct. The only problem remains if you point to right
(existing) xml file. Also see in FireBug what you get
I see editable:false – when set this way this field will be not in the formedit.
Also to work set them to editable.
The readonly attribute guarantee that this can not be changed from
the user
With the same success you can do this code in
onInitializeForm event which is fired only once. In beforeShowForm this is
fired every time you call the form.
