I made a help request a couple of days ago, but since it seems the current grid does not support what I want, I guess a feature request is more appropriate.

Cant you just write a custom unformat function that converts the formatted cell back to a sortable value?

As I said in my post, there are other usecases where I'd like to use a custom client side sort funcion such as a column with ip addresses or mac addresses in it.
