I have the same issue with my grid. I have a dropdown menu with different country and when i select one, it reload grid data filtered by the country I chose. The filter works well but in the case it returns no data, it becomes impossible to reload the grid. I checked firebug, nothing append.

Unfortunately I can't provide you a link but i've noticed something. I don't know if it's relevant for you Tony but
