    For anyone following this thread, the solution was a fix by Guriddo which will flow through to future versions.

    OK I have identified the issue – MySQL does not like numeric column names. Apparently back ticks (e.g. 1234) will work but renaming the columns with alphanumeric names seems the best solution for use with jqGrid.
