jqgrid is nice product and sometimes, well, really when it comes to forms, you really got to fight with it and read. I have pretty much come to a cross roads with jqgrid and form editing. It is great on the grid side, but forms, just to many probs and not clear enough info. I have been trying to figure out for days how to catch the dataurl error. Wine wine wine 🙂

Ultimately, just decided to just start building my own forms and stop using jqgrid native forms for edits, except for the most simplest of forms.

Look up custom buttons in the wiki, you can search for it. Also google jqgrid custom buttons. There is info out there. Not sure about passing the grid data to a form. I am just calling ajax event to load data.

Jqgrid can be pretty frustrating when your first starting out if you want to do anything more then just the basic form. Once you learn the ropes, you can see what a dynamic product it really is.

    Good Luck

Yes, you set the item to hidden. The in the editrules you set edithidden:true

Do a doc search for editorules it is easy though, even I figured it out. 🙂

The documentation kind of makes it look like you can put it in the main jqgrid section. I did get it workingm the way you did it as well. Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

After a ton of seraching and agonizing pain :), this was the solution (BELOW). The problem for me was (NOT raggin on doc, for open source, doc is FANTASTIC!, better then most commercial docs!) where in the documentation could I have found this? I found the answer somewhere on the net.

When I looked at the form editing docs, there wasn't any mention of this. Not a rag on docs, my question really is, where in the docs could I have found this infomation about how to setup events for each type of submit?

    * Do want to STRESS, that not ragging on docs, they are really good. I am pretty to new jquery / grid and still feeling my way around.

    Also order was important.
