I’m wondering if the problem could be the different versions used between my jsFiddle and the example :
jsFiddle : jQuery 1.11.0 / jQuery UI 1.11.2 / jqGrid 4.6.0
example : jQuery 1.10.2 / jQuery UI 1.10.3 / jqGrid 4.5.4
