same problem, no alt row is not marked, when i checked the generated output, though I have
altRows = true
Hello,
Check to see in FireBug if you have in the rows the class “ui-priority-secondary” if altrows is true.
If you have this class the the undelaing theme does not have diffrent colors for the altrows.
Also which version do you use?

I defenetly dont have that class, since I would like to set my own class for secondary…
There is a such option for this
I just had the same problem with altRows not working on IE8.
Found out that IE was running in quirks mode.
Fixing it (setting the proper doctype for the html page) and defining my own altclass fixed it.
