For one of my grids, I am having an issue with the div element above the main table element in IE8. The height of the div is being set to around 5000ish and it is causing the rows to be pushed down. I am wondering what that div is for and how to prevent the height from being set. Here is a sceen shot taken from one of the JQGrid demo pages of the div in question.
