Hey guys, I am trying to write a plugin for wordpress. I am using jqGrid and integrating it in wordpress but the problem is whenever I try to load the page I get the following error

[09:23:53.734] TypeError: $ is undefined @ http://localhost/site/wp-admin/tools.php?page=db_presentator:34409:23:53.700 SyntaxError: syntax error @ http://localhost/site/wp-admin/tools.php?page=db_presentator:188

where on this line I have following code

$.jgrid.useJSON = true;

$.jgrid.no_legacy_api = true;

P.s this error is in Firefox in chrome it keeps saying
