Yes indeed, that does the trick, thanks man! I was thinking of the wrong place, now as you tell me it sounds logical to solve it in CSS and not in jqgrid

Hope that helps – I tried a lot, but can't get it to show up grouped from the beginning 🙁

Figured it out, seems the function call from the example does not autoload the js. This one works:
