that's right, when I change the third parameter to true the toggle function does work again. But then also the whole button is used for sorting aging (which I do not want, since I have a custom link within the headertext).

FYI: I was able to solve this by using this line from the wiki:
viewsortcols: [true, 'vertical', false],
But now the sort order does not toggle anymore, for more information see my bugrequest:
