Ok, not a bug. Just me

By adding a JSON.stringify(status) call to my status variable, this seems to make the setGridParam call happier and it behaves consistently.

Still seeing this behavior with jqGrid 3.8.1

Figured it out so for anyone interested…

Instead of hooking into the 'afterInsertRow' event, since using groups, this won't fire, so using the 'loadComplete' event with a function such as:

function myLoadCompleteFunction(data) {

One suggestion regarding the filterToolbar, it would be nice if there was a parameter set anytime the filterToolbar was not empty (so there is some desired filtering in effect).

I've gotten around this in my server-side code by as follows (using ruby on rails)
