You set:
cellsubmit : 'remote'
jqGrid think – I should save the value to the server and does not save the cell value in the local data.
In order to do this you will need to save the cell usung setCell or setRowData method after you submit the new value to the server.

You should tell me that you use navigation when cellEdit is on
Now fixed in cellEdit too. Also the prvevious fix was when bindKeys method.

I do not thisnk tha the problem is in the grid, but rather in the code and what you ask in the ajax request.
The form editing is not changed from 4.3.3 to 4.4.0 you can check this.
