There is no limitation of number of colmns. Please check yor code. We have a grids with 30+ columns and the work ok.

Setting the state hidden and visible with setGrid param will not work. You should always use setGridState with reloading the grid.
You will need to use loadBeforeSend event for this purpose

There is not ready solution for this. You will need to use a onPaging event to add a class to the sorted column

You should note that this is for form edit, so in your case you – in any other module formid is not needed.
Yo have installatin problem, maybe you use the development CSS file – you should use the one NOT from src directory
