    Hi Will,

    I followed the steps that you provided and found following issues on win10 version 1909(OS build 18363.476 ) :
    1. Screen reader is reads only the column headers name when focus is on any cell inside the body. It does not read the cell value. Like Country USA, it reads only Country
    2. When focus is on the header Narrator does not read the ascending\descending state for the header.

    Observed above issues does not exists on older Win 10 version 1803(OS build 17134.829)

    Hi Will,

    Yes, I can see aria-sort property added now this should fix the sorting issue.

    For the issue related to headers.

    1. Narrator not providing the header names associated with the table cell

    Did you try with aria-label or aria-labelledby properties or headers attribute on the cells this will help to associate the header names with the cell values. If not please give a shot to this.

    Do You have any bug tracking system ,where I can log these issues for tracking purpose.

    Hi ,

    <span>The keyboard accessibility is as per the W3 ARIA standards that is working perfectly fine. But with Narrator table is not accessible.</span>
    1. Narrator not providing the header names associated with the table cell :
    <span>
    Switch on Narrator and navigate to any cell using Tab key. Say when you are on first row first cell “Beverages” here Narrator should read the header name along with the data eg it should read as : Beverages column header “Category Name”</span>
    <span>2. Table not accessible using Narrator table commands
    As Narrator was not readign the header associations and the sorting info , hence I tried with Narrator commands as follows:
    Switch on Narrator and Press Key T , Narrator says “Not on table” .
    Similarly if you try to navigate the table using following commands it always says “Not on table”
    Ctrl + Alt + Home:  Jump to first cell in table
    Ctrl + Alt + End: Jump to last cell in table
    Ctrl + Alt + Right arrow: Jump to next cell in row
    Ctrl + Alt + Left arrow: Jump to previous cell in row
    Ctrl + Alt + Down arrow: Jump to next cell in column
    Ctrl + Alt + Up arrow: Jump to previous cell in column
    Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Left arrow:Read current row header
    Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Up arrow:Read current column header
    Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Right arrow:Read current row
    Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Down arrow:Read current column
    Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Forward slash (/)Ctrl + Shift + Alt + 5 (numeric keypad):Read which row and column Narrator is in
    Ctrl + Alt + Page up:Jump to table cell
    Ctrl + Alt + Page down:Jump to cell contents</span>
    <span>3. Screen reader is not reading the column sorting information.
    Switch on Narrator and navigate to any header using Tab key. Screen reader does not read the current sorted state of the column
    Press Enter to sort the header. Data is sorted but screen reader does not says “Ascending\Descending”</span>
    <span>Randomly I checked and found this grid to be good: https://dequeuniversity.com/library/aria/tables/sf-table-sortable .
    You should check with other screen readers as well like JAWS and NVDA. </span>

    Again highlighting the issues with the grid using Narrator :

    1. Narrator not providing the header names associated with the table cell.
    2. Table not accessible using Narrator table commands.
    3. Screen reader is not reading the column sorting information.

    Can you please let me know if you have any plan to fix above issues ,it would be great if you can share the tentative release dates and version.

    I observed that the grid is not accessible using the Narrator’s table commands. Please check this link how to  navigate table using Narrator :-

    <span>Thanks Will for sharing the details. The new version looks great. Keyboard accessibility is in place now.
    I was trying to run screen reader: Narrator observed that it is not working and the documentation you shared does not speak anything about the screen reader compatibility of this component.
    Can you please provide some insight how a screen reader dependent user will use this grid ?</span>
