Here's my change to getChangedCells in grid.celledit to address this…. basically check for class 'edit-cell' and if it is there, return the title not the html.

Really do not known.
If I test the demo pages with FF (windows) and IE6 all work OK. This behavior is only in IE7 and it seems that is related to the modal plugin.
Anyway thank you for pointing me to this issue. I will check it again

Thank you for this investigation.

As for 100% width – one of the most important work of jqGrid is a better resizing features. I need again look into this.
